Aer Lingus has recently announced a recruitment drive for up to 100 direct entry pilots to operate their expanding fleet.
Aer Lingus will be adding to their current fleet with more Airbus A330 aircraft and the new Airbus A321 LR Neo. Aer Lingus will be receiving 4 A321 long range Neo aircraft mid 2019 and plan to increase their wide body aircraft to a total of 16. Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh recently provided details about how they plan to grow their North Atlantic fleet from 17 to 30 aircraft over the next five years. They will invest in 14 A321 LRs by 2023 to provide capacity to grow both across the Atlantic and within Europe.
The increase in aircraft will create extra demand for both pilots and cabin crew. Aer Lingus currently have approximately 650 pilots and will be aiming to have a total of 750 pilots over the coming years. Pilots will have the opportunity to fly transatlantic flights on either the A321LR going to cities on the east coast of America or the A330 serving 18-20 destinations in Northern America.
